Culling workflows, just like editing styles, are something personal and unique to each photographer. There is rarely one solution that fits all when it comes to Culling. That's why we offer two ways to address your Culling needs inside of Aftershoot.

So, what are the differences between the two, and which one is the best for you?

AI-Automated Culling

This mode takes care of most of the work in your stead. When it selects the photos that it thinks are the winners, the AI considers the culling preferences that you set, the photoshoot genre, as well as your previous culls in Aftershoot.

All that's left for you to do is review its selections and make some tweaks if those are necessary.

Benefits:

  • Quick, efficient, minimum input necessary

  • Good for high-volume shoots

  • The AI looks at the photos you keep from its selection and learns your preferences, becoming better with each cull

  • Good for the Culling-In method

AI-Assisted Culling

With this mode, you have complete control over selecting the images - from start to finish. While selecting, you are assisted by AI-powered features that will help you speed up and streamline the culling process. Features like Key Faces Detection, Duplicate Grouping, and Image Scores.

You get to maintain control while benefiting from Aftershoot's AI.

Benefits:

  • Complete creative control

  • Good for low-volume and artistic photoshoots

  • Perfect for the Culling-Out method

In Conclusion

Since there is no right or wrong way to cull, both Culling modes are great and useful options to have in your workflow. You just have to experiment and see what works best for you.
