To get started with Aftershoot Edits, you must first have an AI Profile that has completed training and loaded onto your computer.

If you need help creating an AI Profile, read the guide here.

You have two options available to you, you can either cull and then connect a catalog to edit. Or you can simply click New Album and begin Editing.

We will go through editing only in this article, and you can learn the cull and edit process in full here.

Check out the following video, or read on for more instructions.

From your home screen, click +New Album in the upper left or lower right-hand corner of the screen.

Choose the "Start Editing" option to begin the process of having Aftershoot Edit your images.

Step 1: Adding the Lightroom catalog and choose which AI Profile and Color Profiles you want to edit with

The first thing you'll need to do is connect the catalog or catalogs you'd like to edit.

You can do this by browsing your computer, looking at recently opened catalogs, or simply dragging and dropping a Lightroom catalog into Aftershoot.

On this same screen, you will have 3 important decisions to make.

1. The first one is located in the upper left-hand corner - Apply my Lr Preset:

Aftershoot touches a variety of sliders in Lightroom but not ALL of the sliders in Lightroom.

If you use a custom preset which adjusts the sliders that Aftershoot doesn't adjust, we recommend that you leave this option turned on.

For example, if the preset you use always adds in a particular value for noise reduction, then enabling this switch will automatically add that particular value to the edited image (along with the AI edits), thereby preventing the need for you to add those values by yourself.

2. Next, you will see a drop-down menu to select which AI Profile you would like to edit with.

Currently, you can only edit with one profile at a time.

Next is another drop-down - Choose Color Profile - to select the Color Profile you use in Lightroom.

What you will see listed here are the Color Profile(s) used most frequently in the Lightroom catalog(s) you used to create your AI Editing Profile.

Just choose one from the drop-down menu.

3. Lastly, you can also enable the AI Crop and AI Straighten options, which will automatically crop and straighten your images as well as edit them to your style.

Once you’ve selected your options, click the blue Continue button at the bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Specifying the images you need to edit

Up next, you will be taken to a filter screen that lets you tell Aftershoot which images you need us to Edit.

Aftershoot EDITS is unlimited, so you can edit an entire catalog if you would like, but just note it will overwrite any past edits.

On this screen, you can choose between the folders where the raw images or collections are for each catalog.

You can also choose which of those you would like to Edit by using stars, colors, or flagged and unflagged images.

Below you will see an example of one folder with only the 5-star images being edited.

Once you have filtered your images down to what you would like to edit, simply click Edit Photos at the bottom of the screen, sit back, relax, and let your personalized magical unicorns take care of the editing.

Once the editing has been completed, you will be prompted to open the Lightroom Catalog in Lightroom to review the edits made by Aftershoot, tweak them to your liking and enjoy the time you just saved by using Aftershoot!

Improve AI Profile

Once editing is complete and you are happy with the Edits, you can either click the Back button in the upper left corner to return to Aftershoot’s Home Screen, or you can click the Improve AI bar at the bottom of the screen to Improve the AI Profile you just used with the Lightroom Catalog you just edited.

When you click the Improve AI Profile bar, you will be taken to the “Choose Lightroom Catalog(s) containing your tweaks to improve the AI Profile” screen.

The most recent Lightroom catalog that was just edited will be listed in blue, along with the Previously Used Catalogs.

Click the blue Continue button at the bottom of the screen, and you will be at the Filter screen again. Follow the steps to improve your profile.

Alternatively, you can improve your profile later by navigating to “View Profiles” (in the upper-right-hand corner of the Aftershoot home screen), selecting your profile, and connecting more (edited) Lightroom catalog(s).

This will allow you to train your AI profile continuously and improve its performance.

Your personalized AI Profile helps you achieve consistent editing and saves time on repetitive tasks, giving you more time to focus on your creative vision.
