Every photographer has a distinct vision when it comes to editing their photos. It’s one of our goals to offer you as much flexibility as possible in that regard when it comes to AI Editing. That’s why every single AI Profile in Aftershoot can be further customized to suit your needs better. This applies to all types - Professional and Instant AI Profiles, as well as Pre-Built AI & Creator Styles.

How Do I Adjust My Profile?

There are two places where you can access the customization menu. The first one is by opening an existing album or creating a new one and heading to the Edit tab.

Here, you will need to choose one of your AI Profiles and click on the Customize Profile button.

The second method is to click on the AI Profiles tab, regardless of where you are in the app.

Here, choose which AI Profile you want to adjust and click on the three dots symbol. Then select Adjust Profile.

There’s only one difference between the two methods. If you access the customization from an existing template, you can see the effect of the adjustments you’re making on your own images from the album. If you access customization from the AI Profiles screen, you will be able to see the effects on Aftershoot’s stock images.

Regardless of how you got there, once you’re on the customization screen, you will see a right-hand drawer with nine categories to customize.

Every AI Profile in Aftershoot, regardless of its type, works the same way. It’s created and trained based on the edited material that was fed to it. It edits images with the editing values that it learned from all the images that it was shown. You can change the image in the center by clicking on another in the carousel below.

There are three ways those values can be adjusted. When you open a category, you will see a symbol to the right of every editing value, like Exposure, Contrast, etc.

If you click on it, you will be prompted to choose between AI Correction, Fixed Value, and Disabled.

Now, let’s go over what each one of them means, starting with AI Correction. This offsets the value that the AI Profile has saved inside it by the amount you set on the slider.

For example, your AI Profile sets Tone Exposure in a way that’s not to your liking, so you set the AI Correction of Tone Exposure to +1.35. So every time it edits an image, it will set Tone Exposure to whatever value it decides and add +1.35 on top, remembering your adjustment.

Being done with Tone Exposure, maybe you want to adjust the Tone Contrast through a Fixed Value. This will make the AI Profile ignore the value it has saved inside itself and apply the one you set on the slider.

For example, your AI Profile has Tone Contrast set to +10. But you set the Fixed Value of Tone Contrast to -25. Now, every time the AI Profile edits an image, it will automatically set Tone Contrast to -25, regardless of the previous value it had saved inside.

With Tone Exposure & Contrast out of the way, you want to take care of Tone Highlights. But this time you want to do something different. You don’t want the AI Profile to make changes to the Tone Highlights of your images at all. In this case, you will simply select Disabled.

Now the AI Profile won’t make any changes to this value whatsoever, regardless of the value it has saved inside.

For most of the editing values you adjust, you can see the effect on the image in the center of the screen immediately. In the rare cases when you can’t, you will see a yellow exclamation mark next to the editing value title.

The fact that you can’t preview the changes doesn’t mean they won’t be applied. Rest assured, the AI Profile will remember them during the AI Edit.

In case you want to reset the adjustments you made to a certain category and start from scratch, simply click on the icon next to the category title.

There are two buttons in the lower-right corner of the screen. Clicking the Reset button will revert all the adjustments you made to this AI Profile. And when you’re done making adjustments, click on the Save & Continue button.

Any AI Profile can be reset to its original values at any time - even after you saved them and exited. Simply return to the customization screen of the profile and click on the Reset button.
