Why is this necessary?
Previously, Aftershoot stored all app related information in a single dataset. Settings, preferences, ALL albums - everything was stored together.
To improve overall performance, especially when working with larger projects, we decided to implement a change. Now settings and preferences are stored separately. Each new album you create will also be independently stored.
To ensure your existing albums are saved using the new dataset model, they have to be migrated.
What are the benefits?
Not only will the app in itself load faster, but so will each separate album. This will also decrease the chances something goes wrong with the whole app, in case a single album is experiencing a technical issue.
How do I migrate my albums?
After updating Aftershoot and launching it for the first time, you will see a pop-up window, prompting you to select the albums you want to migrate. Just follow the steps on the screen and you will be done in no time.
After installing the latest version of Aftershoot, the app will automatically check your existing albums.
What happens to my albums during migration?
Nothing will happen from your side - your albums will look exactly the same way they did before migration. The only thing that will change is how Aftershoot will save the data inside them.
What if I missed an album during migration?
Please contact our Support Team and they will assist you in recovering the missed albums. There is no permanent data loss during the migration.
What if I switch between older and newer versions of Aftershoot?
If you need to go back to an older version of Aftershoot and then switch back to 2.17.0 your albums will need to be migrated again.
Once you’re back in 2.17.0 you will need to clear the app’s cache and restart Aftershoot.
This will force Aftershoot to re-check your albums and start the migration procedure.
What issues might I see during or after migration?
If your albums did not show up, the app settings were reset to default, or some albums didn’t show up in the migration pop-up – there is a way to fix that.
Clear the app’s cache and restart Aftershoot. This will force Aftershoot to re-check your albums and start the migration procedure.
If this didn’t help — please contact our Support Team and they will assist you.
