Congratulations, you’re about to experience the major benefits and features of Aftershoot 2.9! You will notice the biggest improvements in Culling & Editing. But you’ll also see changes in how the albums you move from the old version to the new one, look on the home screen.
In this article, we’ll talk about how your old albums will look in the new version.
Setting Up Your Workspace
Once you start up the new version of Aftershoot you will be greeted by a pop-up asking if you want to set up your workspace.
Before you proceed with this, there are two important things you need to keep in mind:
1. Once the process starts, ensure you don’t use the Aftershoot app. You will receive an e-mail when the initialization process is finished, letting you know you can use the app again.
2. To set up your workspace, Aftershoot will need to use some space on your system. The app will need 2 GB of free space at most, so make sure to check if you have enough before you start.
When you’re ready to begin the process, click on Restart Aftershoot. You can choose Do it later, but it’s a fairly quick process and once done, you’ll have access to your previous albums.
After the restart, you will be prompted to Bring back your old albums. Here you will see a list of albums and you can select which ones you want to bring back. You will note that to the right of the album name, Aftershoot will note which ones were only culled, only edited, or both. If you wish to select all of them, simply click on the Select All checkbox.
With that done, you can click on Continue, the button will change to Please Wait. Shortly after that, Aftershoot will restart.
After the Restart
When Aftershoot starts again, your old albums will be on the home screen. You will notice 3 types of additions next to the album names - cull, edit, and both.
Cull
If an album was only culled with Aftershoot, you can interact with it without any restrictions. It can be re-culled or edited with no issue.
Edit
If an album was only edited with Aftershoot, it cannot be re-edited. This is due to some of the changes to Aftershoot in regard to editing.
If you attempt to re-edit these albums in the new version, you will see a pop-up at the bottom of the screen, asking you to create a new album, re-import the catalog(s), and only then re-edit them.
Both
Projects that were both edited and culled in Aftershoot, will be separated into two albums - one culled and one edited.
You can interact with the culled album as usual. For the edited album, the same scenario described above applies.
We hope this will help you go through the upgrade process as smoothly as possible. If you encounter any issues or have questions, don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected] or through in-app support!
