How to Export Your Edited Images From Aftershoot

You've finished editing your images and want to export them to your system or another program. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to do that.

You can choose which images to export by filtering them through Color Labels and/or Star Rating, as well as Flagged or Unflagged.

You can also choose which images to export by using the Edit Status filter to the right of the Filter Groups.

Once you’ve made your choice, look to the upper-right corner of the screen and click on the Export button.

A window will pop up once you click the Export button, where you have several export choices.

Click the Export to Folder tab to export the images locally to your system. In Export Location, click on the dropdown to choose between exporting to a Specific Folder or to the Same Folder as Original.

If you choose Specific Folder, click on the path below it and choose where on your system you want to save your images.

Below that, you have File Organization, where you can choose how to further organize your images inside a folder. If you want to create a subfolder with your exported images, click on the checkbox next to Put in Subfolder. You can also type out a custom name for the subfolder in the field next to it.

If you click on the checkbox next to Divide by Rating, you can further separate the exported images by their assigned ratings inside Aftershoot. The images will be placed into separate subfolders, depending on AI Cull Groups, Stars, Color Label, or Flags.

Under File Naming, you can rename the files as they’re being exported.

Choose between keeping the Original Filename or creating a Custom Name - Sequence. If you choose the second one, just type in the custom name in the field and the number with which you want the sequence to start.

You can also choose Sequence - Custom Name to have the filename start with the number and be followed by the custom name.

Next, you need to choose the Image Type you want to export your images in by clicking on the dropdown and selecting between JPEG, RAW, and TIFF.

Adjust Image Quality by dragging the slider, and choose the Color Space by clicking on the dropdown and selecting from the list.

Image Sizing lets you decide what size the image should be exported in. You can leave it Full Size or choose another option from the list. Simply click on the dropdown and select the one you need.

Once you’ve made your choice, insert the dimensions you want in the respective fields. You can also choose whether the dimensions are measured in Pixels, Inches, or Centimeters from the dropdown to the right of the fields.

Resolution is adjusted by typing the desired resolution in the left field and selecting between per CM or per inch from the right one.

Last but not least, you have the option to Watermark your images. Click on the dropdown and select Create Watermark.

In this window, you can set up where to place the watermark, customize it, and save it as a preset.

In the right-hand side panel, start by naming this particular Watermark Preset.

If you wish to have Text-based watermark, proceed by choosing a font. Click on the dropdown and select from the list.

Below that, you can choose the Color and Opacity level of the text.

If you wish to have a Graphic watermark, click on the tab with the same name. Proceed by clicking on Choose Graphic and uploading the Watermark from your system. Then adjust its opacity by using the slider.

Look at the template image in the center of the screen. Drag and drop the watermark to place it on the area of the image where you want it to be displayed.

You can have separate placement for vertical and horizontal images. Look to the top right corner and click on the horizontal image icon, then repeat the placement process.

With that done, click on the Save Watermark button in the lower-right corner.

To export your images to another program, select it from the list under Export to or click on the Other Apps tab. Once you click on your software of choice, it should open and begin importing your images from Aftershoot. Once the import process is done, you will see all the Star Ratings, Color Labels, and edits applied to your images.

You also have the option to use the same export settings you used in your last export, without having to set anything up. To do that, simply click on Previous Settings.
